This is ONLY a Draft. It may very well be an overreaction to the problems perceived in the Vengeance Knights, and may need to be toned down. Input is welcome.
We the People and Gnomes of Sleepless Knights, in Order to form a guild of some sort, establish regular raiding, ensure raid-wide Tranquility (as if that’s not an overpowered ability, especially when improved), provide for the common interests, promote the general Welfare (but not epics. You provide your own welfare epics), and secure the Blessings of the PRNG to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution.
The Sleepless Knights are governed by The Seven, seven officers who equally share responsibility and authority. It is ordained that there not be close relationships between two members of The Seven (for example: husband & wife). The Seven (I ran out of links) are (in alphabetical order unless I can’t think in which case they may be in wrong alphabetical order) are: Sibital, Kaidel, That bum Troldann, Varazes, Daemeonfitz, Geelo, Phaedro, and Dalwyn. Yup, that doesn’t remotely resemble the alphabet as you probably learned it.
The Sleepless Knights exist and coexist for purposes of fun and raiding. In order to provide for that, we intend to have non-ambiguous solutions to common problems already in place. Enforcement of these rules is subject to the discretion of a majority of The Seven. That places absolute power (above the powers of this document) into the hands of The Seven. Sleepless Knights is not a democracy, it is not a republic. It is an oligarchy.
It is the intention of The Seven to provide an amicable and benevolent oligarchy before whom you may kneel in humble supplication. We feel that we have operated and led the members joining us in our guild or our raids in such a way that you will trust us to use this power fairly and with discretion. It is not the intention of any of us to walk all over you, for without you we have nothing. A government of this sort cannot operate without the trust of the governed, and it is our hope that we have your trust. The kneeling may commence.
Applicants can be invited upon approval of 5 of The Seven. Applicants may be promoted to full Raider status after The Seven unanimously approve. This paragraph mostly exists so that I can keep typing “The Seven” which just sounds *so cool.*
Raid attendance will be based on sign-ups provided on our website. We will make efforts to maintain Guild Calendar for purposes of reminders, but sign-ups must be done on the website to count. Attendance confirmation will be based on (in no particular order) first sign ups, gear level, and player skill. Preference will be given to Raiders, though slots (10% to 15% of the raid) ought to be reserved for Initiates in order that we may get to know them. Those slots should only be filled by Raiders if no Initiates are available for the run, or if class balance will unduly suffer.
Membership in our guild is not a factor for attendance in the raid. From an administrative standpoint, it is preferable. Some applicants may find that we do not want to accept them as Raiders without inducting them into the guild. Because of a legacy situation with the guild from whence Sleepless Knights arose, many Raiders who are Raiders by invitation instead of application will be unguilded Raiders equivalent to guilded Raiders.
Loot will be distributed according to a deterministic simple-to-administer system. The specifics are not yet decided, but the following are requirements: it must facilitate fast hassle-free distribution. It must be supported by a well-maintained UI mod, and Kaidel has to agree that it doesn’t suck.
